Review: Chidren of the Sun by Beth Lewis

This is another deeply passionate and lyrical cautionary tale from Beth Lewis, and a powerful page-turner. It’s a real emotional companion piece for The Origins of Iris, and develops some of the themes begun there.

The terrible ache to take back our mistakes forms the heart of the Atlas community and it’s leader Sol’s teachings, and the way in which anyone could buy into a cult given the right hook has never been more adeptly presented.

The complimentary perspectives of James and Eve help to lure us in, and I don’t think the book could have captured that sense of desperately wanting to believe something from James’s POV alone. As ever, Lewis threads her thriller with a golden line of speculative magic, which only brings it further to life. As others have said, if you love the vibe of Stranger Things, you’ll find a resonant note in this, and lots to love.

This book has rightly earned the plaudits on its cover and details page, and the great reviews received here. Loved it and highly recommend it. 5* all the way.
